Near East University has reached new heights in the 2024 World University Impact Rankings by Times Higher Education (THE), securing top global rankings in multiple categories. In the latest assessment, Near East University is ranked 6th in “Education Quality” and 8th in “Sustainable Cities and Societies,” reflecting its ongoing commitment to regional and international progress in art, social heritage, and sustainable development.

In a recent reevaluation, Near East University ascended to the 201-300 band globally, reinforcing its position as the most influential university in Northern Cyprus and 4th across Turkey. The London-based Times Higher Education uses these rankings to evaluate how universities worldwide contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focusing on areas such as education, health, and equality.

Near East University now proudly ranks among the top 10 global universities in two impact categories and within the top 50 in four areas, including “Partnerships for Goals” (45th) and “Gender Equality” (46th). Additionally, the university places in the top 200 worldwide for “Health and Well-being.”

Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel, Chairman of the Near East Institution Board of Trustees, emphasized the university’s dedication to fostering sustainable development and advancing academic excellence on the global stage. Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ, Rector of Near East University, highlighted that these achievements showcase the institution’s commitment to equal educational opportunities and social advancement. Both leaders acknowledged the contributions of the university’s faculty and students and reaffirmed their dedication to improving education quality and sustainable initiatives.
